A Special Spot for Homework

School started with a bang last week. I always forget what a huge transition it is, the kids going from a summer with no structured time, to strict daily schedules. It hasn’t been easy, and as much as I try to be prepared, the shift is inevitable bumpy. Add homework into the mix, and further complaints and complications arise.

Although I am not a fan of homework for second-graders, it is a reality that we have to live with. To help Thomas be successful with it, last year I set up a vintage writing desk as a homework station in his room. We got it all organized again this year, and have the best of intentions of helping him get his weekly work accomplished! Check out my article in last week’s Kitsap Sun for ideas on how to create your own special homework spot.
