In Plain Sight

In tiny houses, we must be clever about where we store our undesirable necessities. In my case, I must hide my kitty litter box in the kitchen. Yes, the kitchen. Fortunately, our landlords never got around to installing the under counter shelving they had promised before we moved in.

It was in that little nook that the cat pan had to go, but I was determined that it somehow be disguised. I sewed a simple curtain panel from Dwell Studio’s Gate fabric in Charcoal, which I purchased at our fabulous and local, Pacific Fabrics and Crafts. It’s nothing glamorous, but it’s a vast improvement!

  1. What a wonderful idea! In the last two apartments I’ve lived in, the kitchen was the best place to keep the litter box unfortunately. The one before this, I had it partially covered by the bathroom door, so unless someone was standing there when someone else was using the bathroom, no one knew it was there. In the place I’m in now, there’s no where to hide it so it’s just plunked down next to the fridge. I would love to have a little space like this so my little cat could have some privacy!
