Creating a Niche

This cute little niche has been begging for some adornment since we moved in five months ago. I was undecided what to do with it until recently. I didn’t really want to do anything permanent since we are renting, but I was dying to add a dash of color and pattern to an otherwise dull and boring wall.

I settled on “wallpapering” the niche with a piece of gorgeous lokta paper from Paper Source. I simply traced the niche’s curve onto white paper, then onto the decorative paper and cut it out. I taped it up with regular old scotch tape! Truth be told, it took two pieces, since the niche was taller than the length of the paper.

After that, I added a vintage wall lamp, a treasured piece of art that I had packed away, and a couple of sentimental objects. For around ten dollars, I brought a great deal of charm, and some much-needed light, into that area of the living room.

A plain little niche gets glamm'ed up.
