Undecorate: the Book

28 Mar

I got a glimpse of Undecorate yesterday while at Elliot Bay Book Company in Capital Hill, and was blown away by the fresh, unstudied, and lived-in beauty of the homes inside. Christiane Lemieux, Dwell Studio‘s brainchild, has put together a gorgeous text that peers into the homes of people who decorated from the heart, in order to truly reflect their personalities, passions and lifestyles.  I was immediately inspired to jot down about six new decorating project ideas, just from a brief browse though the book. I can’t wait to get my hands on my own copy and get going on my DIY schemes… more to come!

The title’s a bit of a misnomer then, but I like the idea behind the book.

I suppose you’re right about the title. But the principle of the book relies on the idea that you can have a personal and beautiful space without the help of a professional designer, and you don’t have to follow any decorating “rules” in order to do so! Very encouraging!
